In January 2007, Tom Ita-as started a project: a web resource site to help migrants and itinerant people around the world.Tom was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1989. A year later, he was involved in helping local and international migrant workers specifically mariners visiting the Ports of Philadelphia and South Jersey as program director of the Seamen’s Church Institute of Philadelphia and South Jersey. Tom served the world’s mariners for 12 years. SCI is an international seafarer agency serving the Ports of Philadelphia and South Jersey for over 160 years.

The mission of SOSMigrants.com is to provide easy access to relevant information for people on the move especially migrant workers, immigrants, refugees, tourists, researchers, international students and investors from all over the world.
